I know this is a book-ish blog but I also love watching movies/tv shows. Recently, I’ve been Rewatching old favourites and I know this can be a gamble. What once felt like TV gold could now feel dated or downright embarrassing. But every now and then, you hit on those rare gems that still pack a punch, delivering on nostalgia and quality without making you cringe. Here are 5 nostalgic tv shows I’ve revisited recently that still bring the feels—and not in a “so bad it’s good” way.
1. Desperate Housewives (2004-2012)
Ah, Wisteria Lane & the housewives —the suburban fantasy filled with scandal and secrets. What surprised me on this rewatch is how sharp and darkly funny the writing remains. I found myself laughing a lot. I really liked Eva Longoria when I first watched it and rewatching it made me like her more. I also somehow started noticing her in other things I watched like Only murders in the building.
2. One Tree Hill (2003-2012)
One Tree Hill was my intro to tv shows and I LOVED it. Revisiting it, I find that the drama is still peak teen angst, but it never falls into the cringeworthy zone. I also realized Bethany Joy is not aging. Super excited to watch the reboot/sequel. I randomly came across this video on TikTok and got excited AGAIN. PEAK NOSTALGIA.
3. Gossip Girl (2007-2012)
I still remember watching Gossip girl as a teenager and wanting to visit New York. Over a decade later, I still haven’t been. Who knows tho? I just might be planning a trip next year. The Upper East Side world is glossy, messy, and full of scheming, but beneath all that, there’s a weird timelessness about Blair and Serena’s frenemies dynamic and Chuck Bass’ questionable yet intriguing persona. Oh, I’m still fully team Blair.
4. Early Seasons of Grey’s Anatomy (2005-present)
Before Grey’s Anatomy turned into a never-ending saga of tragic events, the early seasons were all about the right balance of medical drama and personal struggles. Meredith, Derek, Cristina, and the original crew felt real, and relatable. While things and cast members have changed, my love for it hasn’t.
5. Prison Break (2005-2017)
I’ve started rewatching Prison Break, and it’s refreshing to watch without the same fear or anxiety for Michael and his elaborate plans. It’s still just as thrilling, and the rewatch value holds up. I didn’t think it was possible to find a character more annoying, but T-Bag quickly reminded me that I was wrong!
If you haven’t watched any of these and you’re a fan of tv shows, I definitely recommend picking one and giving it a watch. If you’re here for the books, you can read my recent reviews here.
