Lately, I’ve been a little more interested in romance novels/rom-com movies. I’m really not sure why but I’m embracing all of it. I have never denied how much I love LOVE and I’m a sucker for love stories – whether fiction or nonfiction. I recently read The flatshare by Beth O’Leary and I knew I had to share my thoughts.
” Tiffy Moore needs a cheap flat, and fast. Leon Twomey works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they’re crazy, but it’s the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy’s at work in the day, and she has the run of the place the rest of the time. But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven’t met yet, they’re about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rulebook out the window…
Version of the book I read
I read the paperback edition and I bought it from Rovingheights for N4,500 or N5,000. (I cannot remember exactly how much but it wasn’t over N5,000 naira.)
My thoughts
The Flatshare was such a cute book. I was pushed into reading it by Sogie who swore It was the best thing since sliced bread and I trust her romance recommendations but I also wasn’t sure what to expect. Something I do often is try not to read the synopsis of books before going into them. I haven’t been disappointed yet so I just might continue doing this. A few pages into this book, I was already laughing out loud. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and I had to pace myself because I genuinely did not want it to end. Beth O’Leary did a fantastic job with not just the plot itself but the characters as well. Tiffy and Leon were so relatable and loveable; I found myself rooting for them. Even the supporting characters were memorable. The style of writing was so engaging and it draws you in instantly. (The post-it notes communication thing was EVERYTHING. To be honest, The flatshare is a book you can finish in one sitting – such a page-turner! Dare I say, it’s going to be featured in my Top 10 books of the year list! Yes, it’s that good!
