Hey friends! I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I officially started this blog. I’m so proud of myself for being so consistent even when life was dealing with me. Someone commended me on Instagram and it actually made me realize how much work I’ve put into this blog this year. If you’re reading this, I’m thankful for you. Anyway, I was able to read 5 books in December even with the festivities and activities going on.
5 books I read in no particular order.
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood (5⭐️)
I have made so much noise about this book in the last three weeks, I’m honestly shocked people aren’t sick of me yet. It’s such a good book. Please read it! I wrote a review here.
The switch by Beth O’Leary (5⭐️)
After reading The Flatshare, I knew I wanted to read more of Beth’s books. So, I bought The Switch months ago and wanted to read it immediately I bought it but it just wasn’t flowing and I knew I had to drop it and pick it up another time. I’m very glad I gave it a second chance because I really enjoyed reading it.
What happened to Janet Uzor by Miracle Emeka-Nkwor (4⭐️)
I received an advance copy of this book set to be released in 2022 from masobe books and I honestly couldn’t wait to start reading it. Amplifying African writers is something I take pleasure in doing and I’m always here for books set in Nigeria. We need more people to tell our stories. This is a YA-mystery set in PortHarcourt, Nigeria and follows a similar theme to “One of us is lying”. I enjoyed this and cannot wait to share my review next year.
An island by Karen Jennings (4⭐️)
This is also an advanced copy from Masobebooks. It was already published by different publishers this year but a paperback version is set to be released in 2022. It was definitely an interesting read with lots to talk about. I’ve always been interested in human psychology, so this might be why I liked it. I found myself trying to understand characters I have no business understanding.
Just haven’t met you yet by Sophie Cousens (4⭐️)
My official last read of the year. I enjoyed reading this book. The humour was great, the style of writing was also good. It was very easy to read. The idea of a love triangle to spice things up was wonderful. Although, some parts of the didn’t work for me as they were too obvious and predictable, it was still a decent read.
It’s officially my last monthly roundup post of the year! Reading in 2021 is officially over. I’m going to spend the last two days of the year working on my yearly roundup post. It’s been a wonderful reading year! Cheers to reading more amazing books!
How many books were you able to read in 2021? I’ll start! I read a total of 60 books!
