January passed by in a blur, didn’t it? It feels like just yesterday I was wrapping up 2023, yet here we are, already diving into the adventures of 2024. This month, I managed to read four captivating books, with three of them written by the talented author, Ashley Antoinette. In this post, I’ll be sharing the books I read in January.
Moth to a flame by Ashley Antoinette
This book introduces us to Raven, the daughter of the notorious drug dealer Benjamin Atkins, a man whose mere name strikes fear into the hearts of many. Raven’s intrigue is piqued by Ethic, who works for her father, but her affections are met with reluctance. Instead, her path crosses with Mizan, a figure shrouded in danger and allure. Young and naive, Raven falls prey to manipulation and finds herself entangled with Mizan, making decisions that may seem frustrating to some, yet are undeniably rooted in her longing for love and belonging. When I realized this was a series? I knew I had to read them all.
Ethic 1 & 2 by Ashley Antoinette
In these captivating books, we are introduced to Ezra Okafor, also known as Ethic, and his intricate family dynamics. Alongside him, we witness Morgan, Raven’s sister, treading a similar path to her sister. However, Ethic’s journey takes a drastic turn with a grave mistake, introducing a compelling new character, Alani, into the mix.
The pace of these books is relentless, immersing readers into the lives of the characters with intimate detail. Personally, I found the audiobook experience particularly enjoyable, as it brought an added layer of depth to the narrative. Each character comes alive in the narration, making for an even more immersive reading experience.
Maybe in another life by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I’ve been on a mission to devour every book by this author, and let me tell you, each one has its own flavor. But this one was refreshing. Even though it was a bit different from her usual style, I couldn’t put it down— it resonated with me as I’m at a point in my life where I’m making lots of life changing decisions. Usually, her stories revolve around celebrities or famous figures, which always adds a fun twist. But this time, it felt like a nice change of pace. I wrote a review here.
That wraps up my January reads. My only goal for February is to read and finish a physical book. I am definitely acknowledging the fact that I may prefer audiobooks/ebooks to physical books.
