Hey friends! How are you all doing? I hope you took advantage of this long weekend – to do whatever it is you wanted to do. I was at work this past weekend but I decided to start working on this post because I love you guys THAT much. Also, I thought what better thing to do to end the long weekend than read collections of short stories! I have curated a list of collections of short stories I think everyone should read. (I should state that I prioritize books by African authors.)
In no particular order…
1. A broken people’s playlist by Chimeka Garricks
2. What it means when a man falls from the sky by Lesley Nneka Arimah
3. Windows by Jesutomisin Ipinmoye
4.Dreams and assorted nightmares by Abubakar Adam Ibrahim
5. Heads of colored people by Nafissa Thompson- Spires
6. The thing around your neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
7. Her body and other parties by Carmen Maria Machado
8. How to love a Jamaican by Alexia Arthurs
9. Where there are monsters by Breanne Mc Ivor
10. Manchester happened by Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi
11. Elsewhere, home by Leila Aboulela
12. Friday Black by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
13. Come let us sing anyway by Leone Ross
I tried to make this list as short as possible. If you haven’t read any of these short stories, I suggest you read their blurbs and start ASAP. You won’t regret it.
I hope everyone had a great Easter celebration. I did but I’m typing this as I head to work. There’s nothing I hate more than working on public holidays but this is what I signed up for I guess. Anyway, see y’all soon!

Definitely adding these to my TBR. I’ve read Broken People’s Playlist and I loved it. I have Love in Colour, Manchester Happened and The Thing Around Your Neck but will certainly check out some of the others.

Thank you for stopping by. You should totally get to the ones on your shelf. I am rereading Manchester happened this month.
