Guess what? I finally got myself a Kindle after wanting one for ages! It’s like a little present to myself for daring to step out of my comfort zone and celebrate passing my NAC Osce exam. I snagged it on Amazon during the Black Friday sales, so it was a bit cheaper than usual. Setting it up was a blast, and even though I haven’t decked it out with accessories yet, I’m looking forward to making it look all cute and personalized. Right now, I’m still riding the high of finishing Natasha Bishop’s “For the Week,” a book I started during my trip to Jamaica. This Kindle, combined with the vacation vibes, is the ultimate pat on the back for me!
Here are my thoughts on it.
So, get this – the story dives into Janelle’s world, where her sister is about to tie the knot with none other than Janelle’s ex-boyfriend, Arnold. I know, it’s a total mess, right? But surprisingly, Janelle isn’t losing her cool about it. Sure, she’s disappointed (who wouldn’t be?), but what grinds her gears is everyone constantly checking in on her as the wedding day looms.
To add more chaos to the mix, she’s the chief bridesmaid, and the whole crew jets off to Tulum a week before the big day with the bridal and groom parties. Enter Rome, a successful, drop-dead gorgeous black man who is Arnold’s best man. Janelle had crossed paths with him once before, but they never really chatted. Well, this vacation sparks a seriously steamy love story.
This book doesn’t shy away from the steamy scenes, delving deep into friendships, the ups and downs of sisterly bonds, the importance of putting yourself first, and the sheer beauty of black love. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, and I can’t wait for you to dive into this juicy read!
I related to a few things which made it enjoyable but aside from that, it was really easy to read and quite light. If you’re looking for something quick/light to read, I recommend this. I will be reading more of Natasha Bishop’s work.
My favourite quote was – “Love is not easy. It is waking up every day and choosing the person beside you. You two have seen each other at your best and your worst and you’re still here, choosing each other. I hope you never lose sight of that. I hope you keep choosing each other for the rest of your lives.”
